Ketika kerajaan mengumumkan untuk mencari angkasawan pertama negara sekitar tahun 2003 lalu, ramai yang mula membuat pelbagai interpretasi mengenai projek yang bakal membawa Malaysia menjadi sebuah daripada 39 buah negara elit dunia yang berstatus peneroka angkasa lepas.
